Upcoming Neurodiversity Event! ‘Masked Realities’

So after 8 months , 45 interviews , 100+ survey respondents and hours of teams/zoom/google calls Diversita.co.uk , Unida Consulting and Liv Blaney QAVS are excited to announce the launch of Masked realities : The unspoken career journeys of neurodivergent women

More specifically we are proud to announce our launch event on Thursday, 28th November 2024, at 9:30 AM in London hosted by Amazon at their Holden offices.

As a team we are all so proud of the passion and commitment shown to this study from  Sandra Guzman Giulia Guida-Crawley Liv Blaney QAVS Nathalie Mawdsley and our founder Marc Crawley

However, its the voices and contributors that have really shaped this study and so today below we would love to share some of, what we believe to be, the most hard-hitting lines we found from our interviews and surveys:

➡ “I don't see many neurodivergent female leaders.I know I'm not standard when I walk around the office”

➡ “I mask the absolute life out of myself. You seethe duck gliding in the water, but you don't see the mental costs its takes”

➡ “I always just felt like I was someone who just couldn't cope in the way other people could, and I was just wrong and not good enough”

➡ “I felt very much like I wasn't good enough and that sooner or later they'd find out that I wasn't brilliant and therefore my kind of perfectionism and over working went into overdrive”

➡ “I just cry like unconsolably for however long it takes to kind of reset myself, really”

➡ “I think at the heart of many of the issues and challenges around disclosure is there's no perceived upside for anyone in the organisation. There's only perceived downside”

➡ “I can see when people hear neurodivergent, they think retarded”

➡ “We had a generation of stigma where you wouldn't say something at work, and now you say something at work, and it almost gets dismissed or ignored and I think that's a shame on society”

➡ “I don’t think they (leaders) understand how to support any neurodivergent person to be honest”

Thank you very much to everyone involved and please join us at the launch event of our report at 9.30am on the 28th November in Holborn.
